Chopin’s Nocturne has a soft, slow and dreamy feel to it. This gives the listener the impression that the song is romantic and may have been influenced by experiences in his life, such as a love affair.
This song uses broken chords throughout, which paints a picture of a somewhat broken relationship between two people.
The dynamic change in the piece could hint at when certain parts in the relationship had gone wrong or right this is because when the volume drastically increases or decreases, it gives us a sense of uncertainty, drama and worry.
The tempo of the song is rubato which portrays the unpredictability of an unsteady relationship. The piece is played in legato and has graceful upwards leaps which appear to be elegant, these sorts of things may be used to refer to a stereotype of a women which could be what Chopin was referring to.
The left hand and right hand and sometimes played at slightly different times which can give the impression that it is the differences that the two people have.
